Storm Update from Town Supervisor Linda Puglisi, 8/11/20

Update from Supervisor Linda Puglisi

August 11, 2020

The Con Edison restoration process continues throughout the Town.  There are many, many restoration crews from Con Edison and their contractors throughout the entire Town.  Con Edison representatives reported on the phone call today that there are approximately 450 residents without power.  They are working towards a full restoration by 11PM tonight.  Con Edison was not able to provide me with any assurances that all town residents would be restored by that time period.  Once again I expressed our outrage that 7 days from the storm we still had so many residents without power and that they could not guarantee that all would be restored by 11PM tonight.  Please check the Con Edison website for any other updates.  We continue to communicate with Optimum to restore service in the Town of Cortlandt.  There are many areas of the town that have power but no cable/internet service.  As of this morning there were 392 residents without cable/internet service.  Unfortunately, they are unable to provide us with restoration times.  They are also working with Con Edison on areas that need power in order to restore cable and internet service.  Information has been posted on the town website and Facebook received from Optimum and Verizon.  We know how important this is to all of our residents working from home. The Town government has Wi-Fi available at the Town Hall that can be accessed in the parking lot and also in the Town Hall courtyard. Network and password information is posted outside of the Town Hall on the doors.  Also, the Muriel H. Morabito Community Center located on West Brook Drive is open as a cooling center/charging/Wi-Fi area from 8:00am – 8:00pm today and also tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12th.  Please visit our website for further information.

Please note, if you do not have power you must report it to Con Edison.  We have been asked by Con Edison to instruct all residents to report their power outage.  This is very important.  Please do not assume that your neighbors have done it or that Con Edison is aware of it.  They must receive the report from all residents. Here is the Con Edison phone number 1-800-75CONED.

Stay safe and I will continue to advocate on your behalf to Con Edison, Optimum and Verizon.  Thank you.
