Auto Theft Prevention Tips

Acting Attorney General Platkin announced an initiative to address the rise in auto thefts across the state. In 2021, New Jersey experienced a 22% increase in auto thefts compared to 2020. Addressing this serious problem is a priority for Platkin and is part of the Murphy Administration’s efforts to make the state safer for all New Jerseyans.

Platkin and the New Jersey State Police Superintendent Colonel Callahan announced the expansion of the New Jersey State Police Auto Theft Task Force. In addition, Platkin will also make available up to $125,000 in federal Justice Assistance Grant funds to ensure that the Task Force maximizes its capabilities.

But Acting Attorney General Platkin is asking for your help: County and municipal partners and residents play a key role in keeping our communities safe. Please join their efforts by posting their digital tips graphics and video on your social media accounts, and share with community members and organizations. Together, we can raise awareness and improve public safety.
