Due to downed power lines and trees resulting from the powerful thunderstorms and
lightning-incidents that passed through Morris County on Tuesday night, about 100
households in Mendham Township lost power. Luckily, JCP&L was able to restore power to
those homes within 24 hours and later in the week, there were only isolated outages due to
Tropical Storm Elsa.
As we make our way through Hurricane Season, please prepare yourself and your family for
storm events and possible power outages.
If you ever lose power, please report your outage to JCP&L directly by calling
1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877), or by visiting
www.firstenergycorp.com and clicking the
“Report Outage” link on
firstenergycorp.com, or by texting 544487.
If you notice a downed power line or a tree blocking the road, do not go near it, and
report it immediately by calling the non-emergency police number at: (973) 543-2581 and
pressing 0 to speak to an operator or email mendhamtwpoem(a)gmail.com.
Please reserve calling 911 for emergency situations.
