Mendham Township Committee Plans Public Forum on New Cannabis Legislation on Monday, May 24th at 6:00PM at Town Hall and via Zoom

Residents are encouraged to participate in an upcoming forum being held by the Mendham Township Committee to hear public input regarding allowing businesses to cultivate, distribute, sell or transport cannabis in our town.

Last fall NJ voters approved a referendum to legalize cannabis. Legislation was signed on Feb 22, 2021, allowing adults to legally possess up to six ounces of marijuana, and this will not be affected by any action taken by the Township. Delivery services to our community also will be allowed, regardless of local action.

Municipalities have until August 22, 2021, to “opt out” of allowing cannabis businesses to operate within their jurisdiction. Later, municipalities can later "opt in," if they choose, at any time.
