This past Monday, vaccine eligibility was extended to all individuals 16 or older. Late yesterday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/fda-cdc-lift-vaccine-… (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nf_OuB1rBi0> (FDA) lifted their recommended pause on the use of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 Vaccine. The NJ Department of Health is in the process of notifying vaccination sites across the state and plans to provide them with the updated CDC and FDA guidance regarding the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine. The NJDOH has said that vaccination sites will be provided with the updated fact sheets accompanying the vaccine, which indicates that women under the age of 50 should be aware of the risk of a rare blood clotting syndrome associated with the vaccine. These documents have been revised to include information about the risk of thrombosis-thrombocytopenia syndrome, which has occurred in a very small number of people who have received the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine.
