This past Monday, vaccine eligibility was extended to all individuals 16 or older. If you
haven’t been vaccinated yet, there are many appointments available through the Atlantic
Health
System<https://www.atlantichealth.org/conditions-treatments/coronavirus-…
in Morris County and across the state of New Jersey.
Late yesterday, the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention<https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/fda-cdc-lift-vaccine-…
(CDC) and the Food and Drug
Administration<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nf_OuB1rBi0> (FDA) lifted their
recommended pause on the use of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 Vaccine. The NJ
Department of Health is in the process of notifying vaccination sites across the state and
plans to provide them with the updated CDC and FDA guidance regarding the Johnson &
Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine.
The NJDOH has said that vaccination sites will be provided with the updated fact sheets
accompanying the vaccine, which indicates that women under the age of 50 should be aware
of the risk of a rare blood clotting syndrome associated with the vaccine. Health care
providers administering the vaccine and vaccine recipients or caregivers should review the
Johson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine Fact Sheet for Healthcare Providers Administering
the
Vaccine<https://www.fda.gov/media/146304/download> and the Fact Sheet for
Recipients and
Caregivers<https://www.fda.gov/media/146305/download>ad>. These
documents have been revised to include information about the risk of
thrombosis-thrombocytopenia syndrome, which has occurred in a very small number of people
who have received the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine.
If you have questions regarding risks associated with the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19
Vaccine, please refer to the CDC and FDA websites and contact your healthcare provider.
Hope you had a chance to enjoy the beautiful weather today and have a great rest of your
weekend!
