There are 45 days until the November Election. Like many things this year, the way we cast
our ballots will be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. On August 14th, Governor Murphy
signed an Executive Order to hold the November election overwhelmingly through
Vote-By-Mail.
If you are already registered to vote, you do not need to request a Vote-By-Mail ballot,
one will be sent directly to you. The ballot you receive will include a return
postage-paid envelope. Ballots sent in via USPS must be postmarked by 11/3, and received
no later than 8pm on 11/10. If you choose not to mail in your Vote-By-Mail ballot, you may
instead drop your ballot at one of the secure drop boxes throughout Morris County. To
drop-off a Vote-By-Mail ballot it must be in the sealed envelope provided and the voter
certification must be attached.
The closest dropbox for Mendham Township residents will be at the Mendham Borough Police
Station, 3 Cold Hill Road South. This dropbox will be outside and under surveillance 24/7.
The dropbox will resemble a USPS Blue Mailbox, but will be Red, White & Blue and
display “Morris County – Official Ballot Drop Box”. Vote-By-Mail ballots will be picked up
on a daily basis and brought to the Morris County Board of Elections. The County has
stated that all security measures will be followed when collecting and transporting the
Vote-By-Mail ballots.
You may also return your Vote-By-Mail ballot to Mendham Township’s polling place at the
Emergency Services Building in Brookside between the hours of 6am and 8pm on Election Day.
The ballot must be in the sealed envelope provided and the voter certification must be
attached. Any voter who chooses to cast their vote in person will do so on a provisional
ballot, and individuals with disabilities will have access to an ADA-accessible voting
machine.
If you are not registered to vote, the state has launched a new online voter registration
form through the Division of Elections website. This online form can be accessed by going
to
https://nj.gov/state/elections/voter-registration.shtml. Click the link to Register to
Vote at the top of the page. All you need to securely register to vote is your
driver's license number, non-driver identification number, or your social security
number. The deadline to register to vote for the November 2020 election is Tuesday,
October 13th.
From the Division of Elections page, you can also access and confirm your current voter
registration information. Once your ballot is sent to you later this month, you'll
also be able to set up a secure account to track when it is received by our County Clerk.

Voting is one of our most sacred rights and civic responsibilities. It’s incredibly
important that if you choose to vote you're able to do so safely and have confidence
that your vote is secured.
