WATER INTERCONNECT TEST

The Town of Newburgh has scheduled a test of its water supply interconnection with the Town of New Windsor for the week of September 21, 2020.  For approximately 3 days, New Windsor will supply up to 1 million gallons a day of water through the interconnection on Route 300 (near Walmart) into the Newburgh water system.  Customers along and adjacent to the Route 300 corridor will be supplied from the interconnection.  The water supply from the interconnection will be vital in meeting the Town of Newburgh’s water supply needs during the anticipated shutdown of the Delaware Aqueduct in 2022 by New York City.

The use of this interconnection will cause the flow of water to be opposite of its normal direction of flow.  As is typical when this happens, some sediments in the bottom of the water mains may be disturbed resulting in temporary discolored water.  If this happens, please run your faucets until the water becomes clear.  If the problem persists, please call the Water Department at (845) 564-7813.

If you have any questions concerning this test, please contact Patrick Hines, Rep. Engineer for the Town, at (845) 564-4552 or Jeff Guido, Water Management Supervisor, at (845) 564-7813.
