TOWN BOARD PASSES RESOLUTION TO RETAIN AGED EXEMPTION BENEFITS

At the March 8, 2021 Town of Newburgh Town Board Meeting, the Town Board passed a Resolution that enables seniors and disabled property owners with limited income who did not file for the Aged Exemption by the March 1, 2021 deadline to retain their exemption from the previous year.

This Resolution is in line with New York State’s Executive Order 202, that gives local governments the option to waive the renewal application requirement for the 2021 assessment roll for seniors and disabled property owners with limited income.

Whether it was due to Covid-19 concerns or other reasons, seniors and disabled property owners with limited income can rest assure that their exemption benefits will not be reduced or lost in 2021.  The Town Board voted unanimously to stay said benefits to meet Town residents’ needs.

Please contact the Town of Newburgh’s Assessor Department at (845) 564-4550 if you have any questions regarding the Aged Exemption benefits.
