NOTICE OF ADOPTION - LOCAL LAW 6 of 2020 - RECORDS RETENTION

NOTICE OF ADOPTION

 

            PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on the 28th day of December, 2020, the Town Board of the Town of Newburgh in the County of Orange, State of New York, adopted Local Law No. 6 of 2020 entitled "A Local Law Amending Article II entitled ‘Records Retention’ of Chapter 144 entitled ‘Records’ of the Code of the Town of Newburgh” the purpose and effect of which is to amend Chapter 144 of the Town’s Municipal Code to refer to the new Retention and Disposition Schedule for New York Local Government Records LGS-1 published by the New York State Archives rather than the old Schedule MU-1 which is no longer be in effect for the disposition of records as of January1, 2021.

 

A public hearing on the adoption of this Local Law was held on the 26th day of October, 2020 at Town Hall and continued on the 14th day of December, 2020 remotely via Zoom videoconference  during which the public had the opportunity to see and hear the continued public hearing live and provide comments on behalf or in opposition of the proposed Local Law and any part thereof.  Following the posting of a transcript of the continued public hearing on the Town’s website, the public had the additional opportunity to provide written comments to the Town Board by mail or e-mail.. The Town Board has determined it is in the best interest of the Town to adopt this Local Law.
