Dear Sussex County Resident, On March 1, an email notification was sent out to 9,500 email addresses registered with Sussex County to receive notifications of appointment openings for COVID-19 vaccinations at the fairgrounds. The response was overwhelming and the 300 vaccination openings filled up in a matter of minutes. Our appointment management vendor was overloaded and the appointment system shut down. Sussex County Information and Technology staff are working to modify the appointment system to ensure that a fix is in place for the next round of openings. We apologize for Monday's confusion. There is no need to re-register your email address - we have you on file. As of March 2, the Point of Dispensing center at the Sussex County fairgrounds has provided 6,700 doses since opening to the public on January 13. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
