Good morning,
Approved on January 12, 2026, New Jersey Public Law 2025, Chapter 222<https://www.google.com/search?q=Public+Law+2025%2C+Chapter+222&sca_esv=dc5f…> (formerly Assembly Bill A583) authorizes Municipal Clerks and Deputy County Clerks to solemnize marriages and civil unions. This legislation amends R.S.37:1-13 to expand the list of officials authorized to perform these ceremonies, enhancing access to civil, non-religious officiants.
Tiffany Drennon, NJ State Registrar, has given the following guidance:
If a Municipal Clerk performs a marriage ceremony, they may not participate in any other steps of the marriage process for that same marriage. This includes accepting the marriage application, issuing the marriage license, receiving the completed marriage license, or being involved in any future issuance related to a marriage they performed. All related duties must be handled by another authorized individual to avoid a conflict.
Any further questions should be directed to NJOVSR:

Hello Clerks!
Thank you to all who participated in the 10-week football fundraiser we held during the regular football season. We are happy to announce that we raised $2,900.00!! Our organization had 17 winners throughout the 10-week period, with some winning more than once.
We are excited to kick off our Super Bowl fundraiser for the Municipal Clerks’ Association of New Jersey! Blocks are $10.00 each, and we are aiming to surpass our previous fundraiser by raising $3,500.00. This fundraiser is similar to the previous one, where when you buy a $10.00 ticket, you receive a link to download free music! If you are familiar with the traditional “block pool”, this is very similar. The only difference is that you only receive your numbers, not the numbers for all of the players. The ticket activation deadline is exactly at kickoff, 6:30pm Eastern Time on Super Bowl Sunday, February 8th. Absolutely NO EXCEPTIONS, so make sure you take a flyer with you to your Super Bowl parties so you can sell tickets right up until game time!
Below is a breakdown of your potential winnings:
If you win one quarter, winnings are $20.00
If you win two quarters, winnings are $100.00
If you win three quarters, winnings are $1,000.00
If you win all four quarters, winnings are $10,000.00.
Thank you all for your continued support. With your help, we came very close to our goal last time, and we truly appreciate everyone who participated.
Please share the attached flyer with all of our members and feel free to pass it along to friends, family, and coworkers to help us spread the word and reach our goal.
Thank you again for your support and participation!
Regards,
Dee Ober 🏈
